This class seeks to look at parenting from the foundational model of God as a parent presented in the Bible. Next, we will move through childhood looking at what is happening developmentally. We have divided childhood into three sections: birth through pre-k, middle childhood and adolescence. We will look at normal and concerning behaviors, explore techniques designed to match the stage of development and touch on special topics such as sleep, screens, puberty and COVID. There will be two sessions on weeks 3 and 6 left open for questions and discussion. We would encourage people to attend all the classes, no matter their child's age. Development builds on itself and understanding where your child is right now or where you want them to be in the future requires an overview of how the stages relate.
We are taking a look through the Bible to discover God’s universal principles for governing human affairs. Just as God made enduring laws (or truths) governing the universe, such as the law of gravity, or the law of seedtime and harvest, so also He made universal laws for human interaction; with Him and with each other. Alongside God’s word, we also examine the Declaration of Independence of the United States as well as some key quotes from some who lived during the founding generation. In these sources we find some important keys to understanding God’s truths and how they are intended for this country.
