Frequently Asked Questions

Please reach us at churchoffice@fbccrofton.org if you cannot find an answer to your question.

The church began meeting in Crofton in 1966, officially chartered in 1968, and erected the current sanctuary building in 1971. Modeled after the Bruton Parish Church in Williamsburg, Virginia, the building is cruciform in design; meaning, if you could see the church from the top, it looks like a large cross. An addition with classrooms, kitchen, office, and a large common area was built in 1996.

Technically, no; we have groups: Ministry and Missions Group and Administrative Group. The Ministry and Missions Group handles both the internal and external ministry programs of the church and is made up of the heads from the various ministries we currently have. The Administrative Group handles the nuts and bolts operations of the church: personnel, building maintenance, repairs, etc. They are made up of church-approved representatives of the congregation. Both of these groups answer to the congregation when it comes to church-wide impact decisions.

We have deacons, but not elders. While they have no administrative, operational, or financial oversight, they have the most important oversight responsibility of any group in our church: families. Our deacons are this church's family spiritual ministry leaders.

  • We believe God created the universe and all things in it. How He did this, or how long it took is not essential to our belief. We believe He created people to be His faithful representatives on Earth, and to be stewards of His earthly domain. Humans tried to take control and play god, thus fracturing the God/human relationship originally intended by God. However, because God loves humans dearly, He had a plan, which He put in place to restore that relationship.
  • We believe this plan focused on the birth, death, and full bodily resurrection of His Son, Jesus.
  • We believe that since Jesus resurrected from the dead and promised that we would do the same, all humans will be resurrected. How this plays out in the "end times" is not an essential belief (amillenialism, premillenialism, pre-trib, post-trib, etc.). What is essential is that all humans will be bodily resurrected, all will be judged by God, and some will live eternally with God on the renewed earth, others will not.
  • We believe Christ is the only way to living fully in God's Kingdom; both now and forever.
  • We believe the Holy Spirit is very active in God's Kingdom on earth and manifests His gifts in many, many different ways.
  • We believe that God, Christ, and the Holy Spirit are co-equal and co-eternal, one in essence, nature, power, action, and will.
  • We believe that Scripture is inspired by God and is His revelation of Himself and His plan for redemption for His creation.
  • We believe all humans are equally broken, but are also equally redeemable.
  • We believe humans have complete free will in their decision to accept or reject Christ.
